I was walking back to my hotel room in Ghent today when I had one of those ‘…huh’ moments. I just realised that ‘Vader’ LITERALLY MEANS FATHER in Flemish/Dutch. Of course, it’s not pronounced the same as 'Lord Vader’, but if there were a Flemish Belgian or Dutch person reading a novelisation of the original Star Wars trilogy, I don’t think the 'Luke. I am your…’ revelation would have anything like the same impact.
